Windmilers Race

Helen Furze Memorial Match (Nonsuch Parkrun) Saturday 25th November 9 am

Helen Furze (nee Perkins) was a Windmiler who sadly died too young. She was also a member of Striders of Croydon, and to celebrate her life the two clubs are holding the 4th annual mob match at Nonsuch parkrun. You don't need to have known Helen to come along!

If you have not taken part in a parkrun before you need to register online
(http://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/) and put Wimbledon Windmilers in as your club. As
with all parkruns please remember to bring your barcode to get a result.

Looking for volunteers - Darkness Dash on November 23

This fun event on Thursday November 23rd needs helpers!  We currently have around 8 people on the list, including the organisers, but we need around 20 (or more) to put it on safely.  Contact Claire Morgan on comms@windmilers.org.uk if you can help with marshalling or timing. (Apart from our gratitude, you get brownie points towards the club's marathon ballot too.)

Windmile on the track - Wednesday 25 Oct 7 pm

The Windmile on the track is back on Weds 25 October at 7pm, at Wimbledon Park track (nearest tube Wimbledon Park) - all welcome, fast and slow, to come and race a measured mile, volunteers needed too (contact Claire on comms@windmilers.org.uk). Followed by drinks at the Pig and Whistle (481 Merton Road SW18 5LD), from about 8.15pm.

Final three mile handicap of the season on Tuesday 29 August

This coming Tuesday 29 August is the final 3 mile handicap of 2017!

No training from Belgrave Hall - meet at the Windmill.  We need runners and marshals!  Even if you haven't made it for the previous races, why not come along this time? And if you can help out, contact events@windmilers.org.uk to marshal.

Windmiler MABAC

Massive thanks to everyone who turned out to help at the Windmilers' MABAC on August 1, we really appreciate it!  and well done to everyone who took part.  Results for the full course are here https://www.windmilers.org.uk/node/13988 and for the short course are here https://www.windmilers.org.uk/node/13989.  We are currently second in the league - let's make sure we have a good turnout for the next event at Lightwater in September!

Windmiler MABAC Tuesday 1 August - marshals needed

On Tuesday 1 August the Windmilers are hosting the MABAC at the rugby club.  We want as many of you as possible to come and run or jog or walk round; and we still need marshals and other helpers.  There are a couple of jobs that can be done beforehand by people planning to run.  Please let Colin Harris know on mabac@windmilers.org.uk

3 mile handicap - Tuesday 25 July

The next 3 mile handicap will take place on Wimbledon Common - 6.45 for 7pm, at the Windmill.

For newcomers to the club, this is a fun trail race which we do on the last Tuesday of every month from April to August.  It's an easy way to try a trail - open to runners of all speeds, the fastest runners start last.  The course is flat (with a few tree roots & some mud) and you don't need to wear trail shoes.  We head down the pub afterwards.

We need volunteer marshals - if you can help, please contact events@windmilers.org.uk

Thursday 22 June - The Windmile on the Common

Thanks to all the helpers & runners who came along on Thursday 22 June.  Results can be found here: Windmile Results

3 Mile Handicap

The final 3 Mile handicap of 2017 is on Tuesday 29th August. Please register at the Windmill from 6.45pm for a 7.15pm start. Everyone is welcome. Other club sessions won't be happening.

As usual, those who haven't registered for previous races should arrive earlier - from 6.45. Those who have already taken part can just tick their name off, so could arrive at 7 (please bring your numbers if you have them). The first starters will set off at 7.15.

Results will announced at the pub afterwards (from 8.15).

Windmile on the Track

We will hold the Windmile on the Track on Saturday 10 December - register from 11 am, race at 11.30.  This is an opportunity to do a measured mile on a flat surface, everyone is welcome no matter how fast or slow you are.  Why not wear a strand of tinsel or a sprig of holly to get into the spirit of the season!

We will put on the race at the end of the regular track training session - everyone is welcome to come along at 9.30 & join in the training session too, if you fancy a really long warm up!  and contact Claire if you can help out.
