Covid-19 update for London Tier 2 alert from 17th October 2020

We are pleased to confirm that the Wimbledon Windmilers group running training sessions are continuing in groups of six as London goes into Tier 2 alert from 17th October 2020. All of our training sessions meet and take place outdoors. We remind Windmilers not to congregate in groups of more than six before or after a session, especially when there are multiple groups starting at the same time of day.

Covid-19 plan for a phased return to activity (update 20th July 2020)

The Wimbledon Windmilers club is preparing to offer a phased return of club activity. England Athletics (EA) requires that affiliated clubs prepare a Covid-19 plan and perform risk assessments on activities before we can offer them as club sessions. Our plan takes into account EA guidance1, our local situation and member feedback.

Coronavirus update – 29th April 2020

The Suspension of athletics competition is now extended to 30 June 2020.

All coaching has ceased since 24th March 2020, and is only to be conducted via virtual means during this period. England Athletics have stated that they will review and update the wider suspension of all other athletics activity outside of competition (currently set to 31 May 2020) after the UK government announcement expected during week commencing 4 May.

Club membership

Membership renewal payment will NOT be on 1 April this year, so your current membership will remain active until the renewal does happen. This is partly due to the current coronavirus situation but also because we are working to move our membership system to one provided by England Athletics (EA) and we need to do further work to set it up and test. This work should be completed before the end of April, so we will contact you again later this month with further plans about this year’s membership payment.

Coronavirus update - 25 March

The latest Coronavirus statement from England Athletics, issued on 24 March, is now mandating that all physical coaching ceases, and is only to be conducted via virtual means during this period. They are also extending the suspension of all athletics activity in England to 31 May.

Recommendation to wear an ICE product at Windmiler sessions (discount code available)

The Wimbledon Windmilers Committee has agreed to recommend that all Windmilers consider wearing an ‘In case of emergency’ (ICE) product during Windmilers running, cycling or swimming sessions, or carry emergency contact details with them. Coaches will encourage members to do so at their sessions.

#runandtalk Sunday 16 February

Following the success of the Windmilers' first #RunAndTalk event in November, our second event will take place on Sunday 16 February at 10 o'clock from the Windmill. Please note that it will replace the usual Sunday social runs. It will be a relatively short moderately paced run designed to give us plenty of opportunities for having great conversations and getting to know each other better. Following the run, we encourage everyone to continue those conversations afterwards in the Windmill Tea Rooms.
