Coached run sessions
Tuesdays (speed endurance): We meet at 19:00 at the corner of Southside Common and Lauriston Road, SW19 4TQ (https://www.openstreetmap.org/#map=19/51.42312/-0.22380). We start running promptly after 19:00, returning at approximately 20:30. We try to separate runners by pace. Typical distance is 4-8 miles, depending on pace group and session type. During the winter evenings we run on the road, rather than on Wimbledon Common, so please wear high visibility clothing.
Tuesdays (progressive interval training): We meet at 19:00 at Parkside Gardens. The Intervals are prescribed individually by the coach, according to the athlete’s targets.
Wednesdays (fartlek): In the summer months we meet in Richmond Park for a traditional speed play session. Depending on the participants we may split into pace groups.
Thursdays (hills and other training): See Tuesday arrangements.
Saturdays (Wimbledon Park athletics track), Home Park Road SW19 8AU: 10:00 – 11:30. Session plans are posted on the club calendar at windmilers.org.uk/calendar. The club pays an annual subscription to fund all Windmilers’ track fees. Afterwards, runners often head to the park café.
Sundays (coach-led 3, 5 or 7-mile social runs): We meet at 09:30 at the Wimbledon Windmill SW19 5NR, returning between 10:30 – 11:30. The run at an easy pace, with the faster runners looping back so the group stays together. Suitable for those who can run the whole distance, with occasional stops to regroup. Afterwards, runners meet at the Windmill Tea Rooms.
Windmiler running routes
There are some favourite Windmiler routes that you can run yourself. You can adapt them how you see fit to suit your needs (distance, exact paths taken etc). The routes are designed to help you to enjoy running on the Common and finding new places and routes. Or finding out new things about places you knew already! Route details are HERE.
