Alice Holt parkrun

Race Date: Saturday, 28/08/2021
Race Distance: 5 Km

A nice surprise to see Nayan on the start line when we hadn’t arranged to meet up. Alice Holt forest was nice and serene on this rather autumnal morning. The route is on mainly wide gravel paths through the forest. Their website calls it “undulating” but given my current fitness levels it definitely felt “hilly”. The course crossed over a mindfulness trail so was interesting to have a sign halfway up a hill telling you to “Pause. Take in your surroundings.” After a quick drink we went our separate ways. I walked over to Frensham Great Pond for a wild swim. Frensham Common was definitely a pleasant surprise, acres and acres of purple heather, a sandy beach and a lovely albeit nippy swim. First time I have swum with a grebe.
