Goodwood Running Grand Prix 5K

Race Date: Sunday, 25/04/2021
Race Distance: 5 Km

Must firstly say I was in awe of the incredible times from Windmilers on Sunday; I saw their results straight after. To put this in perspective, over Half Marathon distance Clare is now the fifth fastest ever female Windmiler and James in the top 50 all time. Whilst Christopher (who I actually saw finishing from behind the main grandstand) slots in as the 25th fastest ever Windmiler Marathon runner. They all mentioned the wind in their reports, but underplayed how challenging it was making their times even more impressive. Goodwood is a motor racing track and thus not entirely flat and in my experience is exposed and always windy, so despite it's attributes for quick times, I'm always impressed when PB's are set there. From my perspective I was still in the car park 10 minutes before the start, had to collect my chip and get ready. The staggered social distancing starts are particularly conclusive to late arrivals like me (my 5K PB came in a RunThrough race I started 8 minutes after a mass start so can even benefit times)
