Covid-19 plan for a phased return to activity (update 20th July 2020)

The Wimbledon Windmilers club is preparing to offer a phased return of club activity. England Athletics (EA) requires that affiliated clubs prepare a Covid-19 plan and perform risk assessments on activities before we can offer them as club sessions. Our plan takes into account EA guidance1, our local situation and member feedback.  If we are able to comply with EA’s additional requirements for a ‘Covid-secure’ environment we may be able to offer training for groups of up to 12, however group size is currently limited to the current government limit of six.

Trial group sessions are taking place to assess risks, and we have a risk-based framework guiding which are the sessions we are most likely to be able to offer first. We expect to be able to offer low-risk activities in low-risk locations soon and will provide a schedule in due course.

Although the club is not yet offering any club sessions or events in person, we remain active with online meetings and virtual activities for our members. The club will inform members via the club’s email newsletter, social media and website when club sessions become available. The club prides itself for its inclusivity and so we have designed the plan to be as fair as possible to all members.

We expect to be able to run together again, though the club sessions we offer may be different. We encourage feedback and suggestions to the club’s Covid-19 coordinator or to any committee member.    Anne Davies, Club Secretary and Covid-19 Coordinator        Welfare team    General enquiries
