Surrey League Cross Country - Ladies Race 4 - Richmond Park

Race Date: Saturday, 08/02/2020
Race Distance: Other - Run

It was a grey, breezy morning for the last fixture in this year's cross country league. We had a good turnout for the 8.3km course in Richmond Park, starting near Sheen Cross and taking in Queen's Ride, the Pen Ponds and the Ballet School. Conditions were mainly firm underfoot, with a few muddy patches to run through or jump over depending on personal preference. Once again, there was some strong running from all our ladies. Particular mention to Meriel Holden, Grace Fisher and Katie Patterson who scored for the A or B team on their first cross country run for the club. Lorna arrived late due to travel problems, but still managed to work her way through the field for a respectable finish. Kate Carter sensibly decided that the hills were too much for her recovering calf, so stepped off the course. Bronwyn also had a niggle part way round the course but bravely walked the last section in to the finish. It was great to see Chiara on her way back from her niggles, managing to complete her first cross country race of the season. Our A team came 2nd and our B team came 8th on the day, which means that we finished a comfortable 3rd place overall in the provisional results and should be promoted to Division 1 next season!! Thanks to all of the runners, and to Tila, Hannah, Noelle, Anas, John & Sally for coming out to support on the day.
