Babbs Mill parkrun

Race Date: Saturday, 25/01/2020
Race Distance: 5 Km

This was event number 26, the half year birthday, for Babbs Mill parkrun. The run takes place around Babbs Mill Lake, a bit over 10 km east of Birmingham centre and more pertinently for today’s turnout around 5 km north of the NEC where the National Running Show was taking place. With lots of tourists in town for the show, 344 runners, joggers and walkers set a new record turnout compared to a usual turnout of 100 or so parkrunners. As a bonus, Deaf Hub, who were taking part in the show and who provided signed translation of the briefings, gave a quick BSL lesson with how to sign “I love parkrun.” The run itself was two laps round the lake, mostly on tarmac paths with one short section on grass which was seasonally muddy.
