Berlin Marathon 2019

Race Date: Sunday, 29/09/2019
Race Distance: Marathon

The world record holding Marathon course proved to be as flat and fast as they promised. Everyone in Berlin seemed to be a runner this weekend. It started sunny but as the race started the sun disappeared and the rain set in steadily. This is a busy marathon and packing around pacers and the blue line meant a lot of the sites were only glimpsed as you focused on the feet in front. It evened out by about 16 miles. Support was good with all of the route lined with crowds, even in the rain. It was a bit hectic at the start trying to locate the pens but once in place and you take in the size of the event it feels enormous. The impressive finish through the Brandenburg Gate was inspiration enough to power you on to the finish. Water stations were as chaotic as you’d imagine in a race this big so on a hot one it would be even messier. I think I’ve got everyone who ran but apologies if I’ve missed you and please add your result.
