Sedbergh Hills Fell Race (22.5k, 1830m D+)

Race Date: Sunday, 18/08/2019
Race Distance: Other - Run

’This is about as hard as they get. Especially today’. A warm welcome from the race organiser. And so it proved - extremely windy with squally showers and tough terrain. Lots of deep and steep grass and moss, some river-wading, and some solid climbs without a great deal of path. As is usual in every race of this type, I didn’t really have the shoes, legs, technique or confidence to just throw myself at the descents like some of the participants, and was happy to tootle down cautiously watching others bomb past, saving some quads for the next few days in the Cairngorms. It really is impressive to see how some people go downhill.
