RunThrough Battersea Park 5K

Race Date: Saturday, 20/04/2019
Race Distance: 5 Km

With this being the eighth race in 15 days for both Lynn and I we both dropped down to 5K; Lynn with the Marathon coming up and me because I fancied a shot at a second PB in 24 hours after my 10K yesterday. The rumours that the real reason was that the 10K pace would have been too hot for Phil recovering from his great Marathon PB at Brighton last week were just a wind-up from me! Having accompanied Lynn to her current 10K PB in 2017, Phil was at it again helping Lynn to a clear SB at 5K as they eased to a time five minutes inside their targeted pace. Lynn was very pleased as she felt tired yesterday but felt very comfortable at today's pace. For me I was inside my PB pace at halfway but lost it in the fourth km when I realised too late that the runner I was following was dropping her pace and although I then immediately passed her, I had left myself too much to pull back and fell seven seconds short. I did though set my best ever age grading percentage virtue of being a year older than when I set my 5K PB in December 2017.
