Tavy 13

Race Date: Sunday, 15/04/2018
Race Distance: Half Marathon

Arthur Conan Doyle, writing in The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes described the west Devon town and start of this race as 'the little town of Tavistock, which lies, like the boss of a shield, in the middle of the huge circle of Dartmoor'. Although when Dartmoor National Park was established in 1951 it excluded Tavistock from its boundaries, this race soon takes you out of the town onto old railway lines and country lines up onto the western flanks of the moor. A highlight in the town's sporting calendar some 400 runners and 500 local school children (who run a mile to culminate 12 week's of running a mile/week) enjoyed a cold, grey, but fairly dry, typical Dartmoor day. £9 to enter a great race and community event.
