Surrey Cross Country Championships (Senior Women)

Race Date: Sunday, 07/01/2018
Race Distance: Other - Run

Today was a good day! Denbies Vineyard, notorious for throwing weather-related curveballs, put on a fine display of sunshine while 114 ladies tackled the undulating and slippery two lap course (8km in total). For the runners, it was excitement that conditions underfoot were mostly ideal if a little energy-sapping. For the spectators, it was disappointment over the lack of mud and absence of the chicane. Well done to all six ladies for taking part, in particular we extend a warm welcome to Jessica and Ana who are relatively new members to the club and Cross Country. I hope you girls enjoyed your time taking part with us. Also, a big shout out to everyone who supported us out on the course, and a pat on the back for Annie and I (and long-suffering OH, Phil) remembering how to captain a team. In the team results (4 to score) we placed 13th out of 15. The winner came home in a time of 30:09. If this report has inspired you to take part in Cross Country fixtures, you might be interested in joining us at the final two rounds of the Surrey League season - the next fixture takes place on home soil for us this coming Saturday 13th January at 1pm and we could do with all the runners we can get to help secure promotion to Division One.
