Very enjoyable day out on an audax long distance cycling event organised by the Kingston wheelers. Essentialy a trip to rowlands castle village (near portsmouth) via the surrey hills and the devils punchbowl. The 215km event distance plus riding to to the start and back meant we all covered close to 150miles on the day, which was new teriitory for us all. The course was fairly undulating, with leith hill and headley lane climbs nicely sitauted near the end! Great scenery and quiet roads, friendly riders, good company and a nice relaxed atmosphere make it all seem worthwhile. The 4 punctures in our group of 3 made it a slightly longer day out than planned, but we made it back before dusk for the pasta supper laid on by the organisers, who had also provided a very nice spread for breakfast, all included in the amazingly cheap entry price of £9.
