Amager Strandpark (Copenhagen) parkrun

Race Date: Saturday, 26/08/2017
Race Distance: 5 Km

Amager Strandpark is a beach park to the east of Copenhagen with views across the Oresund strait to Sweden and the Oresund Bridge as it dives into a tunnel to get to Denmark. The parkrun consists of two laps, starting on a spit of land leading to a harbour beacon you head towards a lagoon for an anti-clockwise lap, loop around the beacon and then back for a clockwise lap. There were a number of tourists in the 63 runners, including three Brits, myself and a Nonsuch park runner and son whose wife/mum was going to be swimming the Christiansborg Rundt later in the day, also my reason for visiting Copenhagen. The nearby Helgoland sea baths, among the oldest in Denmark, are perfect for a post parkrun dip.
