Dear Windmilers,
We are excited to announce that this week sees the launch of a Grand Prix competition for Wimbledon Windmilers. You can see all the details at windmilers.org.uk/windmilers-grand-prix/
A Grand Prix is a competition that runs across a series of events over the course of a year with the winners being those who gain the most points across a set number of qualifying events. Many other clubs have their own competition and we have been working hard to design our own. We have worked to create a competition that will encourage all members to participate in the range of events available to us through representing the club. It is a running Grand Prix in its inaugural year and multi-sports know they can jump on board in the future if we can identify suitable events. There is an open event, a womens’ event and age categories to compete in.
The Windmiler’s Grand Prix will kick off this weekend with the start of the Surrey League Cross Country Season with the women’s and men’s races being the first qualifying events you can participate in. You need to participate in at least 9 of the chosen events across the year (there are more than 9 to choose from). The next event is then the Nonsuch Park Mabac on 22nd October.
Details of how this will work can be found here, as is the timetable of selected events. We’ll also let you know via the Waffle which qualifying events are coming up when they near.
Sounds great! How do I participate?
Easy – just by participating in 9 or more of the qualifying events – and we will do the rest.
If you have any further questions you can e mail the events team.
