Apologies from dragging you away from your mince pies for a few minutes, but some of the January Cross Country races do have entry deadlines coming up, so we need to know who would like to run them:
1. Surrey County Cross Country Championships – Saturday 7 January 2023
This is held at Lloyd Park, Croydon this year. The Women run 8km at 12.05, with the men running 12km at 13.45. The venue is only a couple of minutes’ walk from the Lloyd Park tramstop, so it very easy to get to from Wimbledon on the tram.
Don’t be put off by this being a “Championship” race. There is no entry requirement other than being EA registered, so if you want to run do let us know. There is a team competition for the first four runners, so hopefully we can have at least that many runners on the day.
We do pay individual entry fees for this race, so please check your diaries before letting us know if you would like to take part. The deadline for getting entries to us is Friday 23 December.
2. Surrey Cross Country League – Saturday 14 January 2023
We will be racing at Woking at 11.00. This is a new venue for us and we don’t have full details of venue or distance yet, but it is likely to be between 5k and 8k in distance. We’re hoping it will be close enough to the train station to be able to travel by public transport. The men run after us at the same venue.
No entry deadline for this one, but please let us know if you will be available to run. We’re currently sitting second in the Division 2 league table, so would like as many runners to turn out as possible to maintain our chances for promotion.
3. Southern Cross Country Championships – Saturday 28 January 2023
This is being held at Beckenham Place Park. The Women run 8k at 14.05, with the men running 15k at 14.50. The venue is close to both the tram and the train stations, so it is possible to get there on public transport.
Again, there are no entry requirements other than being EA registered, so don’t feel that only speedy runners can attend.
We do pay individual entry fees for this race, so please check your diaries before letting us know if you would like to take part. The deadline for getting entries to us is Thursday 15 December.
