Ladies team:
It was a soggy start to the cross country league, which didn’t dampen any enthusiasm for the ladies team. We knew there was cake and lots of it, and who can resist XC!
At the end of the last season the Windmiler ladies were promoted to first division following a great performance. Our aim this season is to stay there, despite the very stiff competition.
We had a fantastic turnout and performances to match. The results showed a solid start with us coming 11th out of 15 teams, keeping us well clear of the relegation zone.
A big thank you to all the ladies who took part. We’d love more of you join us for the next three matches, especially our newer members. So do come along, no previous experience necessary and all speeds welcome. Here are the dates and venues (for ladies) for your diaries:
13 November – Wimbledon common
15 January – Mitcham common
19 February – Effingham common
See you there for the fun

And over to the men’s team …
A long awaited return to Surrey League Cross Country, and a solid team put in a good first run to start our campaign to get back to Div 2 next season. We had a good mix of familiar and new faces and some great running over the dry and varied course. Mixed terrain underfoot saw the chaps running on sand, gravel, grass and stone parallel to the famous race course that is home to the Derby. A nice downhill finish made up for the long climb in the 2nd third of the course lap. Well done to Dan who came fifth less than a week from his storming Marathon in Manchester. A second place finish overall is a good start to this season. We now look forward to the next fixture at Denbies on Sunday 14th Nov.
