Windmile on the Track
It’s a rare chance for Windmilers of all shapes & sizes & speeds to see how quickly you can run an accurately measured mile. In 2011 it took place under floodlight on the evening of Wednesday 5th October between 7.30 & 8.30pm.
If you would like to take part, please enter in advance by Monday 3rd October by sending an e-mail to Claire on chair@windmilers.org.uk including your name and your age and either an estimate of your 1 mile time or your 3 mile handicap time; entry will also be possible on the night.
The event included awards with presentations on the stadium rostrum (for seniors, vets and super vets), and we headed to a local pub afterwards.
As always, we rely on volunteers to help with the event – positions to fill include starters, registration coordinators, time and place officials, and (one-lap-to-go) bell ringers. Please e-mail Claire if you want to volunteer (it counts towards the club marathon ballot).
We look forward to hearing from you.
Claire and Neil
(Windmile Sub-Committee)

Windmile on the Common
After a break of a few years the club revived the original Windmile on the Common in May 2011. This is on a trail rather than road or track so times will be slower, but the 2011 participants all enjoyed it. The start is in the vicinity of the three mile handicap start (not too far from the Windmill), crosses the road to the Windmill and carries on down the track called Windmill Road. We will aim to have a spring Windmile on the Common in future years as well as the Windmile on the track.
