Wimbledon Common Open 10K – Sun 17th July 2011
The Wimbledon Windmilers present the Jim Braben Memorial Open 10K
Taking place on Wimbledon Common on Sunday the 17th July 2010. This race has a scenic route, mostly off-road on the tracks and paths of Wimbledon Common, so is virtually traffic free. Come along for a great race or a lovely Sunday morning run.
All profits from this race go to Wimbedon Guild .
Start: 9:00am Sunday 17th July. Assemble for start at 08:50am on The Causeway.
Course: Two laps of a measured, flat course on Wimbledon Common. The race is mainly on hard tracks and paths on the Common, but includes some very short sections of road. The start and finish is on Wimbledon Common near Wimbledon Village at The Causeway. The race will be held under UK Athletics rules
Important note: There is an entry limit. Entries on the day of the race may be possible if this limit has not been reached but be warned that in some previous years the limit has been reached in advance. Enter early to ensure you have a place. Entrants must be 16 years of age or over on the day of the race.

Running Numbers: All numbers will be collected by the athletes on the day.
Cost: £10 for those affiliated with England Athletics (you must provide your license number in the application) or £12 for non-affiliated runners. All profits will go to the Wimbledon Guild. (Note: There may be a limited number of entries available on the day dependant on the number of advance entries; Entries on the day with be £15.)
Transport: Parking is always limited in the area around the Common. Please arrive on foot, by bike or by public transport (15 minutes walk from Wimbledon Station; or no. 93 bus from Wimbledon or Putney to Wimbledon Village war memorial and then the start is only a few minutes walk).
Walking Directions from Wimbledon Station: If you are walking from Wimbledon Station, you need to turn right out of the station and keep walking straight ahead through both sets of traffic lights and up the steep hill into Wimbledon Village. Go across this mini-roundabout and straight down the high-street to the next mini-roundabout when you'll turn left. Keep walking until you leave the high-street and you'll see the war memorial on your left hand side. The start is a short distance beyond there on the grass.

Toilet Facilities: Portaloos at the start from 0800h.
Bag Drop: Available near the start from 0830h. This will be marshalled throughout the morning. A donation to the Wimbledon Guild is suggested for making use of this facility.

Winners will only be awarded the highest value voucher for the categories they qualify for (eg. if the first female runner over the line is also a vet, that person will only win the 1st female voucher).

Goodie bag and spot prizes: We are very lucky to have a number of generous sponsors again this year. Forgoodnessshakes will be providing free recovery sports drinks to all runners, whilst everyone will also receive a free £5 voucher from Lanson Running in Kingston. There are also a number of spot prizes to be awarded at the results presentation. This will be out of the hat, but you have to be at the presentation to win!
