What is MABAC?
It’s a fun run league, formed in the 1970s. Its name derives from "MA" (from MAGIC - Matthew Arnold Gym Instruction Class) + "BAC" (ex British Aircraft Corporation). There are currently 12 member clubs. The races are held in some beautiful parts of Surrey and South-West London. Quite often there’s some very pleasant country pub to head for afterwards. If you’d like an alternative to the usual Sunday morning social, why not come along?
Each runner earns a minimum of 5 points per race (Windsor = 8), with the first 6 male runners and first 3 female runners home for each club earning extra points, dependent on finishing position. There is a separate or short course for 'Walkers and Joggers', who walk/jog/run one lap and earn 2 points each. So all participants score points for the club and the race is suitable for ALL speeds!
Races are usually around 5 miles (apart from Windsor which is 8 miles) or 2.5 miles for the short course.
